👶 MV #028: I’m Taking Parental Leave & Happy Father's Day
It's time to take a break. Not just because it's summer but also because I'm taking parental leave after my second daughter was born to spend time with family.
👋 I'm Semir, and I write More Value to help my readers get smarter on (1) startup-building, (2) B2B SaaS and (3) Go-To-Market (especially Sales). No fluff. All value. Every other Sunday.
👋 Hi People
It’s been a busy week.
My 2nd daughter was born this week, and things are starting to settle after a few hectic days. I’m wrapping up work and looking forward to enjoying as much time with my family as possible over the next few weeks.
I’m so happy and excited for the time ahead.
That also means I’ll be taking a break from writing
I’ll skip a couple of issues and be back in early August. The Journey So Far
It’s almost been a year since I launched. When I started, only friends and family cared. That’s why I love them.
But over time, hundreds of readers have joined to read about SaaS, Startup-Building and Sales.
They come from iconic companies like Salesforce, Adobe and UiPath and sit across functions and seniority levels. I’ve had massive fun writing over the last year and look forward to continuing the journey.
But don’t worry.
I will not leave you hanging.
I’m sharing a list of my favourite writers on SaaS, startup-building and sales.
I hope you enjoy this while I’m out.
I’ll be back!
Summer Reading on SaaS, Startups & Sales
While I’m out on parental leave, I won’t leave you hanging. There is a ton of value that you can get from others while
is taking a break. Here are some of my favourites.
👉 Why I love it: The best content on product-led growth with in-depth case studies. The newsletter goes deep and can help startup-builders figure out GTM, pricing and other key topics.
’s👉 Why I love it: Consistent analysis of public market SaaS with insightful commentary. This is a must-read for late-stage growth company professionals.
Ed Sim’s
👉 Why I love it: A perfect weekly rundown across SaaS incl. some great nuggets on great startups each time.
’s Kellblog👉 Why I love it: Dave goes deep on SaaS topics, relevant for every startup builder. Check out Kellblog and learn from his vast startup experience.
‘s👉 Why I love it: If you’re a geek on startup finance in particular, CJ has built a great finance newsletter and lately focused on very relevant topics for startup builders.
’s👉 Why I love it: I’m biased as an LP in Stage 2 Capital, but Liz does a great job tackling key topics for revenue leaders like MEDDIC and how to implement specific GTM strategies.
’s👉 Why I love it: The voice of the AI community in the UK. This is a no-BS newsletter with in-depth content on the latest in AI. Unlike many others, Nathan goes beyond the surface and educates his readers on AI. (Fair warnings, it can get a technical)
’s👉 Why I love it: Shameless plug alert! I will be back. So, if you aren’t subscribed yet: Subscribe now to get my next edition. My mission is to help my readers (and selfishly myself) get smarter on SaaS, Sales and Startup-Building.
Great Voices on LinkedIn
But not everyone who has something great, insightful, intriguing to say has a newsletter. Here are some of my favourite LinkedIn creators. Give them a follow to get smarter on Sales, Startups and SaaS.
Sam Jacobs - Pavilion founder, the leading community for revenue/sales
Michael Jackson - the most honest voice in Venture Capital
Hanna Larsson - makes you laugh, think, and learn with every post
Jason Lemkin - the SaaS expert who built the SaaStr community
Tom Alder - for strategy breakdowns of tech companies
Peter Walker - for deep startup insights based on Carta data
I hope these amazing writers will keep you entertained. There are others, and the list could go on, but my kids are ready for our little day trip today, and I must go!
👋 Parting thought
I think quantity time matters as much, if not more, than quality time. It’s the little everyday things that become lifelong memories which you cherish. It’s the seemingly irrelevant stuff which makes you smile every time you think about it - even after years and decades. Focus on quantity. There will be plenty of quality along the way.
I will do a bit of writing, reading and other things in the next few weeks, but I will spend the vast majority of time with my three wonderful ladies!
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads reading this. And happy Sunday to everyone else!
See you in August!
